Castalia participated in Learning Without Frontiers 2012, world's leading-edge educational conference Presentation and demonstration of "Mobile learning in the tsunami disaster area " with KDDI

Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan: Castalia Co. Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan / Representative Director: Satoshi Yamawaki) participated in Learning Without Frontiers 2012 that was held in London, United Kingdom, on January 25 and 26, and made a presentation of "Mobile learning in the tsunami disaster area" as well as a demonstration of our social/mobile learning platforms with KDDI, one of the biggest mobile carriers in Japan.

Founded in 2004 and dubbed the "educational Davos Forum," "Learning Without Frontiers" is a conference where education-related industries and educators gather to discuss the future of learning.

With the "Ishinomaki project", we offered students, who live in the Ishinomaki city, Miyagi Prefecture and affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster (March 11, 2011) and preparing for high school or university entrance examinations, lecture videos and mock exams made by Shingakukai, Educational Corporation based in Nagano-prefecture, using the mobile learning platform developed by Castalia, on 100 Motorola XOOMs provided by KDDI.  We are now collecting feedback from the students as to what kind of the effectiveness mobile learning using tablet devices, Internet and audio/visual contents gained in order to cover the loss and lack of classrooms, teachers, and textbooks, as well as what kind of issues we have faced so far?  The project will continue until mid-March 2012.

Joint presentation was made by Yasuo Kawabata, Senior Manager of KDDI's Global Business Development division, and Satoshi Yamawaki, Representative Director of Castalia, attracting attention and interest of many attendees.
