Castalia and Shingakukai Made Joint Presentation at the 2012 World Open Educational Resources Congress, A Global Conference Hosted by UNESCO

Castalia Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, Japan / CEO: Satoshi Yamawaki / hereinafter "Castalia") made a joint presentation with Shingakukai Educational Corporation (Head Office: Nagano, Japan / President: Masaaki Ichikawa / hereinafter "Shingakukai"), at the 2012 World Open Educational Resources Congress that was held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from June 20 thru 22, 2012, with regards to the mobile learning project as emergency disaster relief, as well as the expansion of "goocus," a smart Wikipedia reader, in developing countries.


The World Open Educational Resources Congress was a global conference hosted by UNESCO in order for the world to share the best practices of open educational resources around the globe. It was convened to commemorate the 10th anniversary of UNESCO's 2002 Forum on Open Courseware, the conference in which the term "open educational resource" had been coined. The Congress saw a number of educational personnel from around the world, such as ministers of education, ministers of human resources development, senior policymakers, educational corporation staffs, researchers, and students.
As the sole presenters from Japan in the Congress, Castalia CEO Satoshi Yamawaki and Shingakukai Board member Tsuneaki Kobayashi made the joint presentation entitled "OER in Bridging Formal Education and Informal Learning - Socialized Education Amplifies Connecting Knowledge."
