COLLABORATIVE FEASIBILITY STUDY WITH UNINETTUNO FOR MOBILE LEARNING IN NORTH AFRICA/MIDDLE EAST REPORTED AT INNOVATION ARABIA 9, AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO INNOVATIONS IN THE ARAB WORLD

Castalia Co. Ltd. (headquarters: Tokyo, Japan / CEO: Satoshi Yamawaki, hereinafter “Castalia”) made a presentation with regards to a joint project with UniNettuno (headquarters: Rome, Italy), a feasibility study of a smartphone-based education targeting their students based in North Africa and the Middle East.

 

“Innovation Arabia 9” is an international conference held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU (Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University), which focuses on technology-based innovation in the entire Arab world. This year, various presentations were made in three fields, namely “Smart Learning Excellence”, “Quality and Business Management”, and “Health and Environment”.

As with last year, Castalia had been selected the sole presenter from Japan. CEO Satoshi Yamawaki and Consultant Atsushi Inutsuka made a joint presentation with Mr. Nicola Paravati, Communication Director of International Relations, UniNettuno.

In this feasibility study entitled “Mobile learning: A one year Italo-Japanese collaboration: Best digital learning practices to go forward social learning in Middle-East and North Africa”, lectures and learning materials on subjects such as object-oriented programs in the computer science field were uploaded on Goocus, a mobile learning platform developed by Castalia. Through the learning experiences on such contents of engineering major students based in the target regions, we analyzed the differences of learning experiences and learning histories between mobile learning and conventional PC-based online learning. The presentation also referred to further joint plans to expand the target regions.
